When our neighbouring planet comes particularly close to Earth, a fascinating view of the Red Planet awaits. Together with the astronomy experts from Astro Events, participants will dive into the mysteries of our solar system and discover the wonders of Mars through engaging models and easy-to-understand explanations. Learn about the planet’s unique characteristics and its surprising similarities to Earth.
Between the welcome apéritif and dinner, the fascinating workings of the universe are explained in an entertaining and accessible way. After dinner, the practical part of the evening begins: at the Gurten observatory, participants will explore planets, stars and constellations. Using several professional telescopes, celestial objects can be observed up close while gaining exclusive insights into the Gurten observatory.
Topic: Mars at Close ApproachApproximately every two years, Earth overtakes Mars in its orbit around the Sun. During this period, our neighbouring planet comes unusually close, offering ideal observing conditions. This evening is dedicated entirely to Mars: discover how the Red Planet was formed, why it has fascinated scientists and space explorers for decades, and what evidence suggests that conditions suitable for life may once have existed there.
